Gia Bashar Mohammedieh

I am an IB Diploma student at North London Collegiate School Dubai studying Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with a strong interest in how science translates into real world impact. I see myself as a business minded scientist, equally curious about the chemical composition of products and the economic forces shaping healthcare and wellness.
My experiences reflect this intersection. Through internships in dermatology and dentistry, I have explored patient centered care and the science behind diagnosis and treatment. My time at SAKS Capital introduced me to private equity and the strategic side of business, shaping how I understand healthcare as both a scientific and systems driven field.
I extend this curiosity through independent work. My UAE Business Playbook explores how industries operate within the region, combining research and real world insights. Through my interview series, I engage with professionals across healthcare, business, and entrepreneurship to better understand their decisions and experiences.
In school, I serve as USG of Communications in Model United Nations and as a student ambassador, while also contributing through tutoring, global awareness initiatives, and service. Across everything I do, I am driven to understand how science, business, and human experience intersect, and how that intersection can be used to create meaningful impact.

I created this blog because I believe small businesses are the heart of innovation. Behind every local brand is an entrepreneur who took a risk, believed in their idea, and worked to create something meaningful.
In the UAE, we often see global companies everywhere—but there are so many hidden local gems that deserve attention. Many of them offer products that are more creative, more sustainable, and more personal than what we find in big brands.
My goal is to highlight these businesses and encourage people to support them—not only to help entrepreneurs grow, but also to build a stronger and more diverse economy.
